You do realize that most of rt 66 is gone and what’s left of it I wouldn’t drive a “muscle car “on on a bet> the road is that crappy
Finding a real muscle car i.e . a 1969 396 /325 hp Chevelle convertible is gonna be tough to do
You may want to check in Las Vegas NV.There used to be guy by the airport [on Swenson ?] that rented such things
I can tell you for fact that you will be charged on a per mile basis and insurance is going to be expensive.
If you do rent it in ‘Vegas stick it on a U-haul car trailer .Drive it back to Chicago and then drive the muscle car back to’Vegas
My personal choice would be a 1976 El Dorado Convertible with the 500 cube V-8 in it
